Keeping fresh this summer

Summer has come!

When I imagine summer, I think of days laying by the pool in my sun glasses sipping on icy cold drinks and all.

Unfortunately for most of us thats not an everyday reality. Instead the reality of summer for most of us is the constant feeling of no energy, being sweaty and make-up melting off in droves. It is a battle to stay as fresh as possible. Here I’ve listed a few random things that could help you stay fresh this summer.

Drinking water, sounds simple enough right. Truth be told most people hate drinking water and would rather opt for anything other than water even during the hottest summer days. Its important to motivate yourself to drink water as it is the healthiest option in curbing dehydration and pure thirst. Setting targets helps to keep you drinking water, start small and build up as you get into the habit of frequently drinking water . For example I set targets like l have to drink a glass of water every hour. Adding slices of fruits such as lemons or strawberries makes water tastier and can make it easier for you to drink more water.

Your skin, sweats a lot more in summer. So it is important to avoid products the clog your skin pores. Opt for water based body lotions and creams, avoiding anything heavily oil based. Invest in waterproof sunscreens which will allow your skin to breathe while protecting your skin from the harsh sun.

Perfume, can be used to keep you smelling fresh all day. The key is to avoid heavy scents. Go for light weight fresh scents which have an aura of floral, fruity or sweet base notes. Spicy scents are more suited to winter. Anti-perspirants are also very necessary during this time of the year.

Make-up, can be a nightmare during summer. This is the time when makeup starts to dissapear within hours of it being applied. Primers, Oil control powders and setting sprays are your best friends during summer. These will help to keep your makeup on point for longer. It maybe be nessary to apply face powder every few hours to keep your makeup looking fresh.
